Peer Education Network (PEN)
The Peer Education Network (PEN) at the University of Utah is a collaborative approach to student success. PEN is a partnership that brings together leaders of tutoring and academic support programs from across campus to establish a shared, evidence-based framework for how peer education is delivered, assessed, and expanded.
Peer Education Network Four Agreements:
- Participate in the PEN collaborative network to strengthen our offerings to students
- Follow shared best practices & basic operational guidelines, peer-learning focused training, data collection & reporting, and standardized scheduling
- Utilize Peer Institute training for tutors
- Collect and share usage & impact data
Peer Education Network Best Practices:
- Sound selection & hiring practices: content-knowledgeable tutors ready to take on the responsibility of tutoring
- Planned training program for tutors
- Data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Regular tutor evaluations by a knowledgeable, experienced evaluator
